Kundalini Yoga and the Elements

Kundalini Yoga gives us the power to stay steady and stable, even while life seems to be going crazy. This works on many levels: by stimulating the glandular system, balancing the nervous system, focusing the mind, and bringing strength and flexibility to the body. When we practice consistently, we start to create chemical changes in our body, leading to a sense of well-being and happiness.

We balance ourselves by balancing the tattvas, or elements, in our body: Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Ether. The tattvas are directly related to the Chakras, as well as to different physiological and emotional aspects of our being. We all have dominant tattvas in our body, and those change with time and even in certain situations. Feeling a little flighty? Cultivate some earth energy. Lots of emotions and crying? Your water tattva may be a bit strong so try drinking some water to balance it out.

When our tattvas are in equilibrium, we feel more balance and self-assured. When we’re in balance, we live with grace and strength.

Join us for a special 5-week Kundalini Yoga series to balance the tattvas:

  • The grounding energy of the earth
  • The fluid creativity of water
  • The passion and heat of fire
  • The clarity of air
  • The lightness and elevation of ether

We all embody these elements in differing degrees in our bodies and minds, and their effects are often expressed through our behavior and attitudes.
In this 5-week series, we will explore the effects of the tattvas on our bodies and psyches, and we’ll look at their relationship with the chakras. When we come into balance, we fill our lives with light and love! All it takes is a little commitment and the ability to keep up.

Thursdays 7:15 to 8:45 pm, April 26 to May 24.

Teacher: Julie Eisenberg (Jiwan Shakti Kaur)
