Lighthouse Yoga Center offers three weekly Level 1 classes, geared for beginners and anyone who is looking for a more low-key practice. But just because the classes are all called “Level 1nathan” doesn’t mean they’re the same.

Nathan teaches the Tuesday 6 pm Level 1 class and the Sunday 8:30 am Level 1 class. In his class, he promises to introduce students to yoga basics such as elementary poses, language, alignment and philosophy.  This alignment-focused hatha yoga class includes movement and postures geared to cultivate awareness and connection between the mind, body and breath.  Great for students of all levels and ability.  Nathan emphasizes fun in his classes, and there is equal probability of both sweating and laughing.

Emily is here on Thursdays at 6 pm. She offerss a gentle and well-balanced asana practice that moves at a meditative pace and ends with a 10 minute guided relaxation into savasana. Emily provides clear instruction and allows for some rest time between asanas (postures). The class often includes pranayama (breathing exercises) for the nervous system and meditation to calm and strengthen the mind. It’s a great class for new students as well as students who are looking for a balanced and meditative class that strengthens and stretches without pushing too hard.

As you can see, there’s lots of variety in our classes. We encourage you to try all three of these classes and see which resonates with YOU. And remember, what feels right one day may not be exactly what you’re looking for the next day. Feel free to mix and match.

And of course, if you’re looking for more of a challenge, we invite you to attend one of our Level 1/2 classes, Mixed Level Hatha Classes, or even Kundalini Yoga. Stay tuned for more info on those!
