We invite you to two special events on Sunday August 23 to commemorate Yogi Bhajan’s birthday.

Yogi Bhajan brought Kundalini Yoga to the West in 1968. He taught over 8,000 classes and inspired thousands of people to keep up and live in their excellence.

He is still alive in his teachings and his guidance is available to anyone who tunes into his subtle presence. He has left a legacy of hope, inspiration, and technology for future generations and the upliftment of humanity.

Each year, on August 26, we take time out to honor our teacher. This year, since many of us will be heading to Sat Nam Fest on August 26, we’re moving our celebration to Sunday the 23rd. Please join us!

Chant 2-1/2 Hours of Long Eck Ong Kaars

“Long Eck Ong Kaar” is one of the first mantras that Yogi Bhajan taught, and he encouraged students and teachers to chant this as a daily sadhana for 2-1/2 hours. Yes it sounds like a lot, but it’s fun, invigorating and uplifting! Warm-ups start at 4:45 and chanting begins at 5 am sharp. Free and open to all.

If you want to practice the mantra in advance, here’s a short video of our friend Krishna Kaur teaching Long Eck Ong Kaars, preceded by a great explanation.

Flexibility and the Spine

japa & nirmal edits-24.jpgJoin visiting instructor and anatomy expert Nirmal Kelsey Lumpkin for a 3-hour workshop as we experience one of Kundalini Yoga’s premier kriyas, Flexibility and the Spine, in it’s entirety. This challenging kriya lasts for 2-1/2 hours and is rarely taught in its full times. Yogi Bhajan said that if the set is done every morning for six months, it adjusts the spine so well that many future chiropractic bills will be unnecessary!

Nirmal brings her experience as a massage therapist and expertise in physical anatomy to the class. She will expertly guide participants through the practice with compassion and humor.

Please note that this workshop is part of our Kundalini Yoga Level 1 Teacher Training and will be held at Teatro de la Luna, 4020 Georgia Ave NW, WDC 20011. Please bring a yoga mat or sheepskin and a blanket.

Sunday August 23, 3-6 PM.

$40 in advance/$50 at the door. ($35 for monthly unlimited pass holders. Please email us for discount code).
