Daily Gratitude Meditation: Aad Guray Nameh

Daily Gratitude Sadhana

Join us every morning on Zoom for 31 minutes of meditation. Sign up online to receive the link. October 1 to November 9.

Day 1 Bonus: Full Moon Meditation on Oct. 1 at 7:30 pm. Sign up online for Zoom link.

In the Kundalini Yoga tradition, there’s a very powerful meditation for gratitude and protection that can be chanted for anywhere between 11 and 31 minutes to manifest prosperty through the expansion of gratitude.

Through the power of this meditation, we open our hearts and find thanks for the good things we have. In a country plagued by disease, racial violence, and financial inequality, manifesting gratitude is an important first step to acceptance and healing.

This does not replace the need to act against injustice – but it’s a chance to build community and find support during these challenging times.

Join us online every morning at 6:20 am to chant Aad Guray Nameh for Gratitude.

This Sadhana will be self-initiated and will be practiced with no introduction or explanation. We’ll tune in at 6:20 am, to be done by 7 am daily, so that those of you who wish to attend the 7 am Kundalini Yoga class can still do so. Some days we’ll play music, some days we’ll chant acapella with the original tune. You can familiarize yourself with this meditation below or link here.

Many thanks to Nandi for initiating and leading this sadhana. Nandi’s birthday is October 16, and what better way to celebrate than bringing our community together for a powerful meditation!

In Nandi’s own words, this is what it’s about:

With so much loss of life Covid or otherwise I’ve been sticking close to gratitude! It can be scary in the world we live in and I want the Divine infinite to know that I am immensely grateful for this life, the connections I’ve made and all the lessons granted to me thus far. With my upcoming birthday I’d like to spend the entire rest of 2020 finding ways to show, share and express my gratitude.

Actively opening our hearts, sealing our destiny with protection using one of my most favorite mantra’s “Aad Guray Nameh” we will chant for 40 days! I invite you to join me for 40 days of gratitude. Join me as you focus on what you too are grateful for in your own life.

Meditation details:

This meditation gives you an enchanting, magnetic personality and many unexpected friends. The Mangala Charn Mantra surrounds the magnetic field with protective light.

Posture: Sit in Easy Pose (sitting on the floor, with legs crossed) or in a chair with feet planted firmly on the ground, with the spine straight, and a light Neck Lock applied (chin pulled back slightly).

Mudra: Place the palms together at the Heart Center in Prayer Pose. The thumbs are crossed.

Eyes: Eyes are closed.

Mantra, Breath & Movement: Chant the Mangala Charn Mantra:

Ad Guray Nameh,

Jugad  Guray Nameh,

Sat Guray Nameh,

Siri  Guru  Devay Nameh

Inhale at heart center to begin. Chant the first line as the arms move up and out to a 45 degree angle.

Inhale as the  hands move back to the heart center. Continue 3 more  times to complete the mantra.

Each time the arms move up and out as you chant, then return to the heart center as you  inhale. The full extension of the arms is timed to the chant.

Proiect the mind out as you chant.

Time: Tne repetition of this Mangala Charn pranayam takes 15  seconds. Continue for 11 minutes, adding 5 minutes per day up to 31 minutes until you perfect it.

Translation:

Ad Guray Nameh
(I bow to the Primal Wisdom)

Jugad Guray Nameh
(I bow lo the wisdom through the Ages)

Sat Guray Nameh
(I bow to the True Wisdom)

Siri Guru Devay Nameh
(I bow to the great unseen Wisdom)
