Prenatal yoga gives mamas the important time and space to relax and feel more comfortable with their changing bodies, as well as to deepen the growing relationship with their baby. This class is open to all levels of yoga experience, during any stage of pregnancy. The class emphasizes alignment based yoga instruction to help with the common aches and pains associated with with being pregnant. While building strength and flexibility in the body, concentration and mindfulness techniques will help prepare for birth and parenthood.
Each 90-minute class will include time for sharing and community-building as well as the introduction of topics of interest and concern to expectant moms. There will be plenty of time for relaxation after the asana practice, to help you leave feeling refreshed and restored. As a birth worker, Kate weaves her knowledge of comfort measures and laboring techniques into her classes. If you’re expecting, you won’t want to miss this class to help support your pregnancy, birth and baby!

About the Instructor: Kate Miller
Kate Miller brings over 20 years of teaching experience to her classes. With a gift for teaching to all levels and special conditions, Kate loves to weave words of inspiration and spirit into her clear, direct instruction. Kate draws her depth of knowledge and kinesthetic understanding not only from many alignment based hatha yoga styles (Iyengar, Anusara, Astanga, Prana Flow), but also from her continued exploration of anatomy and movement study with Katy Bowman of Nutritious Movement.
She holds a BFA in modern dance, a MA in spiritual psychology and is currently enrolled at the Potomac Massage Therapy Institute. To her prenatal and postnatal yoga classes, Kate brings her knowledge and experience as a certified birth doula (DONA), a trained postpartum doula (DONA) and a trained childbirth educator.
