Why Private Meditation with Colleen?

Did you know that one benefit of your asana practice (the movement part of yoga) is to prepare you for seated meditation? Enhance your practice with yoga as Colleen guides you through a personally curated meditation and mindfulness practice. Meditation has numerous psychological and physiological benefits such as nervous system regulation, developing conscientious habits, decreasing stress and anxiety and cultivating peace and joy in your inner world. In your session with Colleen, she will create a custom meditation practice with options for, breathwork, visualization, the use of ancient and sacred practices of mudra and mantra meditation. She will also share her meditation and mindfulness toolbox which includes essential oils, crystals, music and art.

Colleen is a devout meditator, yoga practitioner, lawyer, federal regulator, and a Mom. Therefore, her practice is styled by the need to be able to access mindfulness and meditation practices on-the-go and in a pinch. At the same time she deeply values honoring the history and legacy of these practices and incorporates them in her nightly and daily rituals. Her goal is to make your meditation practice accessible so that you can practice in just a few minutes, and in any place. These sessions are perfect for the beginner meditator who would like to be introduced to a number of different methodologies of meditation and mindfulness in an effort to to discover what works best for you in whichever season of life you are in. For the advanced practitioner, Colleen will collaborate with you to refine and deepen your meditation and mindfulness practices. She will point you to different resources, techniques and even teachers to continue to build on your practice. 

 Colleen began her meditation and mindfulness practices after she graduated from law school and completed yoga teacher training almost 10 years ago. Initially, the practice provided her the relief she needed from racing thoughts, self- doubt and indecisiveness. As she deepened her practice with guided meditations, mantra, chanting, kundalini yoga, breathwork, crystals and sound, her practice blossomed into a cornerstone of her wellness routine and now she never leaves her yoga mat or her home without at least a short breathwork practice or a moment of mindful awareness. Although often practiced individually, meditation gives us the space to cultivate compassion and build community as we connect to our true nature and become more open to others. Colleen truly believes in the power of meditation, an ancient practice that shows up in virtually all spiritual traditions. With Colleen, you will explore a variety of modalities of meditation, as she will curate reading lists, tools and other ideas that are customized just for your meditation and mindfulness journey. 

Your Private Meditation Session

First, you and Colleen will identify your intentions and assess your experience with meditation. Then she will guide you on how to deepen and enrich your practice and/or curate a roadmap to begin your practice. Together you will practice a variety of techniques, and she will explain how the various meditation and mindfulness tools can be used. Meditation sessions can occur in-person at Lighthouse Yoga Studio or virtually. Colleen is excited to take this journey with you!
